Is there any medical examination ?
Only travelers above 60 years have to undergo medical examination.
What are the tests required ?
ECG, Blood sugar and Urine strip test are required to be submitted along with proposal forms duly completed by a practicing doctor (atleast M.D qualified)
Are there any specific policies available for people going for higher studies and employment abroad ?
Yes, special policies are available for employees & students who go abroad known as E & S policies for a sum insured of us $1,50,000 and us $ 5,00,000
Is there any policy for corporates who travel frequently abroad ?
Yes, corporate frequent travel policies for corporates travelling frequently outside the country are available as annual policies for sum insured of us $ 1,00,000 and us $5,00,000 covering 180 days of overseas travel with a single trip not exceeding 60 days.
If I plan to stay abroad beyond 180 days, can I extend the policy ?
Yes, once a policy is granted for 180 days, before expiry if a declaration is submitted that no claim has been lodged earlier and the person is in good health, the policy can be extended upto a further period of 180 days.
Is there any group overseas mediclaim policy for corporate clients ?
Yes, there is overseas mediclaim policy to corporate clients (under B & H) on declaration basis covering employees of corporate clients who send their employees abroad for business/training/projects etc. This policy would be granted by charging an advance lump sum premium for a specified number of days and the company would be required to submit details of person(s) who go abroad.
Are there any specific policy for Asian countries ?
Under B & H policy, we have ‘Plan K’ for a sum insured of $USD 15,000 which would cover travelers to Asian countries only (excluding Japan) for a period upto 30 days (max.)
Will I get any refund of premium in case of my early return to India?
Partial refund of premium under Travel Insurance plans of Oriental is permissible on trip band basis provided the cover was for a minimum of 60 days, unexpired period is not less than 14 days and there has been no claim under the policy.
