Mauritius, one of the most sought-after destinations in the world, has finally lifted a number of COVID-19 restrictions effective July 01, 2022 to boost tourism in the country. The South African nation had put a ban on public gatherings due to the pandemic. But now, the country has scrapped these restrictions along with removing a public mask mandate as well. This island nation is noted for its pristine beaches, secluded islands and luxury abodes. Citizens will also no longer be required to wear face masks – except in hospitals, clinics and other health centers, pharmacies, public transport, the port, the airport, dental cabinets, institutions for disabled citizens and homes for senior citizens. Bars and nightclubs and other entertainment locations have reopened with full capacity and restrictions on public gatherings have also been lifted. The government has also allowed picnics at beaches which were restricted until now.

Passengers travelling to Mauritius will no longer need to take a PCR test on arrival at the airport. Fully vaccinated international travellers can enter the island without restrictions. Non-vaccinated travellers will be subject to a test on arrival (day 0). They must self-isolate for 7 days in accommodation of their choice. An antigen test is required on day 7.

Mauritius Travel Insurance is still required for all foreign visitors traveling to Mauritius. Although no specific amount of coverage is required by the country, the policy must provide medical coverage for Covid-19.
