Travel to Dubai – Overview

The United Arab Emirates, sometimes simply called the Emirates, is a federation of seven emirates consisting of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. Each emirate is governed by a ruler; together, they jointly form the Federal Supreme Council. One of the rulers serves as the President of the United Arab Emirates. The population across the Emirates is around 9.5 million and the area covered is about 83,000 sq km and the official language in UAE is Arabic.

In 2017, an estimated 2.07 million (nearly 21 lacs) tourists from India visited Dubai, and these were not stop-over travellers. They were actually visiting Dubai for sightseeing and tourism apart from visiting friends and family. Indian tourists accounted for over 13% of the total 16 million visitors to Dubai in 2017, according to a top tourism official of the UAE. As Dubai looks to scale up its tourist arrivals to nearly 20 million by 2020, this could mean that 2.6 million (26 lacs) visitors could be Indians at the same pace of growth. Indian passport holders need a visa to visit Dubai. You can go for 48-hour or 96-hour visa, 30 days or 90 days visit visa. In addition, if you are an Indian tourist you can even apply for a multi entry long-term visa and multi entry short-term visa.
