Benefits of Reliance House Holder Insurance

  • Home and its contents like furniture and fixtures, electrical and mechanical appliances and electronic gadgets are covered against risks like fire, burglary, theft, flood, earthquake, etc.
  • Additionally mechanical and electrical appliances (Refrigerator, Washing machine etc.) are covered against unforeseen and sudden physical damage caused due to mechanical or electrical breakdown.
  • Also Electronic Gadgets & Home Appliances are also covered against all the perils as mentioned in the Policy. Complete Identification detail is mandatory for electrical / electronic & mechanical equipment.
  • This policy not only covers the insured’s home but also takes care of his/her family. It covers the family for Personal accidents resulting in death or disablement.

Coverages of Reliance House Holder Insurance

Section I - Fire and Allied Perils Covers the structure (Section 1A) and contents (Section 1B) of the home, against fire and allied perils including earthquake
  • Coverage upto ₹10 crore can be provided
  • The basis of valuation for determining the Sum Insured (SI) shall be on reinstatement value or market value as opted by the Insured.
  • Covered perils include Fire, Lightning, Explosion/Implosion, Aircraft Damage, Riot, Strike, Malicious Damage, Storm, Cyclone, Typhoon, Tempest, Hurricane, Tornado, Flood and Inundation (STFI), Impact Damage, Subsidence and Landslide including Rockslide, Bursting and/or overflowing of Water Tanks, Apparatus and Pipes, Missile Testing Operations, Leakage from Automatic Sprinkler Installations, Bush Fire and Earthquake
  • Terrorism cover can be extended at the option of the Insured. The rates, terms and conditions relating to terrorism cover will be as per Terrorism Pool Rate
Section II - Burglary and Housebreaking Covers loss or damage to the contents of the home against burglary and housebreaking including larceny and theft
  • Coverage upto ₹10 crore can be provided
  • The basis of valuation for determining the Sum Insured (SI) shall be on reinstatement value or market value as opted by the Insured.
Section III - All Risk Cover Provides all risk cover to the insured’s jewelry and valuables anywhere in India
  • Liability of the Company in respect of any one item in any one period of insurance not exceeding the sum insured set against each item and not exceeding in the aggregate the total sum insured under this section of the policy.
  • Where damage to any item can be repaired the Company will pay expenses necessarily incurred to restore the damaged item to its former state of serviceability not exceeding the sum insured in respect of such item.
Section IV - Domestic Mechanical and Electrical Appliances Provides coverage to electrical and mechanical appliances contained at home against unforeseen and sudden physical damage caused by mechanical and electrical breakdown.
  • It is a requirement of this insurance that the sum insured in respect of each item specified in the Schedule shall be equal to the cost of replacement of the insured property by new property of the same kind and capacity (CNRV basis).
  • Where damage to any item can be repaired the Company will pay expenses necessarily incurred to restore the damaged item to its former state of serviceability not exceeding the sum insured in respect of such item.
Section V - Domestic Electronic Appliances Provides all risk cover to electronic appliances including personal computer with accessories such as printers contained at home.
  • It is a requirement of this insurance that the sum insured in respect of each item specified in the Schedule shall be equal to the cost of replacement of the insured property by new property of the same kind and capacity (CNRV basis).
  • • Where damage to an insured item can be repaired the Company will pay the expenses necessarily incurred to restore the damaged item to its former state of serviceability or pay the actual value of item immediately before occurrence of the loss, if the cost of repair exceeds or equals the actual value of item.
  • The Company will also pay cost of dismantling and re-erection incurred for the purpose of effecting repairs, ordinary freight to and from a repair shop and customs duties and other dues.
  • No deduction shall be made towards depreciation in respect of parts replaced. However, in case of payment of total loss of entire equipment, proper depreciation will be deducted from replacement value of items.
  • Excess - Coverage under this Section is subject to an excess of 1 % of the sum insured for each item or Rs. 100/- whichever is higher, in respect of each and every claim for loss or damage admitted under the policy.
Section VI - Television Set Provides cover for loss or damage to the television set in your home caused by
  • Fire, lightning, explosion of gas in domestic appliances.
  • Bursting and overflowing of water tanks, apparatus or pipes.
  • Aircraft or articles dropped there from.
  • Earthquake (fire and/or shock)
  • Flood, inundation, typhoon, storm, tempest hurricane, tornado and cyclone.
  • Riot, strike, terrorism or malicious damage.
  • Burglary and/or house breaking or theft.
  • Accidental external means.
  • Mechanical or electrical breakdowns.
This section additionally covers
  • Loss or damage to property due to breakage or collapse of antenna limited to ₹3,000/-
  • Legal Liability towards property damage, bodily injury/death upto ₹.25,000/- during the year (AOY).
Section VII - Fixed Plate Glass Covers loss or damage due to accidents to
  • Fixed plate glass
  • Frames or framework
  • Lettering consequent upon the breakage of glass.
  • Sum Insured and basis of Indemnity shall be on reinstatement value
Section VIII -Baggage Provides coverage to personal baggage whilst on your journey within India lost, which are destroyed or damaged by accident or misfortune.
  • This section covers Baggage Items lost while only on Holiday or a Leisure Trip. Official tours are excluded.
Section IX - Pedal Cycle Covers loss or damage to the pedal cycle belonging to the Insured or any member of the Insured's family permanently residing with him/her. Covered perils include:
  • Fire, lighting or external explosion. / Riot, strike, terrorism or malicious damage / Burglary and/or House breaking or theft / Accidental external means / Flood, cyclone, storm, tempest and other similar convulsions of nature and atmospheric disturbance / Earthquake (fire and/or shock)

Additional Coverage for Legal Liability to third parties towards property damage, bodily injury/death limited to Rs.10,000/- any one year including defense costs.
Section X -Personal Accident Cover Provides for compensation in the unfortunate event of Accidental death or disability to the insured. Also provides for education grant for dependent children and cost of carriage of dead body.
  • The person proposed for insurance should be between 18 years and 70 years of age.
  • Compensation for Accidental death or Bodily Injury causing Disability to the insured and family members of the insured.
  • Medical Expenses under this Section is fixed at 40% of the compensation payable for a valid claim or 20% of the CSI whichever is less. No variation in the percentage of medical expenses shall be allowed.
  • Carriage of Dead Body (Repatriation) : The policy shall also pay for transportation of Insured Person's dead body to the place of residence as a lump sum of 2% of Capital Sum Insured or Rs. 2,500/- whichever is less.
  • Education Grant: In the event of death or permanent total disablement of the Insured due to accident, the Company shall pay as education grant for the dependent children upto ₹10,000 depending on the number of children.
Section XI A - Legal Liability To domestic servants - provides compensation to the domestic servants for accidents arising out of and in the course of employment
  • Covers Legal liability towards employees under Fatal Accidents Act 1855/ Workmen's Compensation Act 1923 and in Common Law.
  • The premium rate for this Section will be as per Internal Workmen's Compensation Guidelines.
Section XI B - Legal Liability To Third parties - provides cover for legal liability to third parties
  • Covers Legal Liability to third parties due to property damage, bodily injury/death under Common Law

Exclusions of Reliance House Holder Insurance

  • Risks in the caution/declined list of fire department like
    • Equipment installed in outdoor location
    • Individual equipment value exceeding Rs 5 lacs
    • Buildings of kutcha construction
  • Wilful destruction of property
  • Loss and/or damage caused by war and war like perils
  • Loss and/or damage caused by wear and tear, gradual deterioration etc.
  • Volcanic eruption or other convulsions of nature
  • Consequential or indirect losses of any kind of description
