Best travel insurance in India

Travel insurance in India is currently offered by many competent insurance companies in India like Tata AIG, Bajaj Allianz, Reliance General, Care insurance Health, HDFC Ergo, Apollo Munich, Royal Sundaram, Future Generali etc. Almost all these companies have a dedicated vertical which takes care of managing the Overseas Travel insurance business. Their range of products also are comprehensive in terms of coverage benefits and their premiums are competitive. Another important component of Travel Insurance India is the Assistance Partner (TPA) who supports claims (both medical and non medical) across the world, since they are the first point of contact for the insured while they are abroad. Some of these companies have a global partner managing claims and assistance while some have developed in-house capabilities.

The traveller should keep in mind all aspects of their travel before finalising their overseas mediclaim insurance plan and insurance company. If they are travelling to USA, they should ideally choose an insurance partner with a good assistance partner in USA. They should choose an ideal sum insured plan (if travelling to UK/Europe they should opt for a minimum coverage of $250,000 given the healthcare costs in these regions) as well and opt for an insurance company which is reputed for settling claims on time.

It is not fair to state that any Indian international insurance plan is better or worse than another plan. What is important to note that each overseas travel insurance plan comes with a different set of benefits at varying sum insureds and it is important for the insured to compare the options available before making a decision. Based on their business volumes and the claims settling capabilities, the leading international travel insurance for Indians travelling abroad are below, Compare Indian international travel insurance online quotes :

Reasons You Should Buy Travel Insurance

For International Travelers from India, Travel Insurance is still not high on their priority agenda. This is not an ideal scenario since unexpected risks befall travelers which are both Medical or Non-medical in nature and Travel Insurance offers financial protection against these unexpected risks…Some reasons to purchase Travel Insurance include:

1. Cost of Medical Treatment Abroad: Healthcare costs are exorbitant overseas especially in countries like USA/Canada, UK, Europe, Singapore, China, Australia etc and is increasing across other countries as well. Travel Insurance protects the traveler financially should they need any treatment while abroad.

2. Lost/Delayed Baggage Claims: Statistically Airlines delay or lose almost 10% of International Travelers baggages across all sectors in the world. Insurance provides basic financial protection if this happens.

3. Trip Cancellations/Interruptions: For travelers who have pre booked their holidays, a sudden medical emergency, or natural calamity occurring can disrupt their travel plans, and require them to cancel their trip, which will lead to financial loss. Travel Insurance protects some of this loss.

4. Legal Assistance for Personal Liability: Covers legal expenses due to accidental and unintentional liabilities for third part bodily injury or property damage.

5. Peace of Mind: Very importantly, Travel Insurance can assure the traveler that in case of any unexpected emergency, the policy can protect them to a large extent. Reduces stress while abroad in unfamiliar locations.
